Most of the precipitation will fall from 2 p.m. on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5 through Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 6.
"Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations," the National Weather Service said in a Hazardous Weather Statement issued Monday morning. "Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas."
Rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are expected across much of the area.
Areas in dark green in the image above from AccuWeather.com are expected to see the heaviest rainfall.
Labor Day will be mostly cloudy on Monday with a high temperature of around 80 degrees and very muggy conditions.
Rain will continue and be heavy at times on Tuesday, Sept. 6, which will be cooler with a high temperature in the low 70s. Rain will begin to taper off late Tuesday afternoon, but scattered showers will linger in the evening.
Wednesday, Sept. 7 will be mostly cloudy and blustery, with a high temperature in the low 70s, and a chance of showers. Wind speed will be around 10 miles per hour with gusts up to 20 mph.
Thursday, Sept. 8 will be sunny and pleasant with a high temperature in the upper 70s.
